  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, April 23 - 2006 at 15:26
  • PRESS RELEASE

Interstandards, the Arab Internet Standards Organization has announced that it will begin registering Arab websites for it's Quality Certification Program as of 1st May 2006.

Interstandards is managing an Arab initiative for the creation of industry standards for Arab commercial websites. Those standards will be structured via a Certification Program in cooperation with the British Standards Institution, Dubai Internet City & eHosting Data Fort and covering five modules: e-Marketing, e-Design, e-Content, e-Security and e-Solutions.

The primary purpose of the Interstandards Certification Program is to promote the use of high quality and standardized online products and services according to the available industry best practises and in adherence to BSI standards, thereby reducing the potential of sub-standard quality online mediums failing prematurely in the marketplace.

Interstandards shall issue quality certificates for the Web Publishers and include the Web Publisher name in the Interstandards certified website's list in all it's marketing activities across the region.

Duri Al Ajrami, Managing Director of Interstandards said:
"Participation in the Interstandards Certification Program is essential to the cooperative effort to achieve sustainable market growth for the Arab online market".

"It will also demonstrate the concern of Web Publishers for quality, and the capability of cooperative programs to achieve industry goals", added Al Ajrami

Following the registration, Interstandards shall deliver to Web Publisher the Private Standards in the proper format to verify that all the Certification Program requirements are addressed.

A period of time will be given to all registered Web Publishers to fully review each of the provided Private Standards and self-asses its services or products and resolve nonconformities before Interstandards conducts the actual assessment audit.

After which, Interstandards shall assign specialized auditors to conduct an assessment process related to the Web Publisher's online products and services, in adherence to BSI auditing standards.

Interstandards aim at awarding the first certificate by the end of 2006.
