"Enhancing awareness among potential job-seekers about emerging trends in the UAE labour market is our paramount concern. Careers UAE 2006 has attracted significant interest this year with 125 government and private sector companies scheduled to participate in the event. Over the years, the fair has been drawing a large number of National job-seekers and employers from all sectors, providing us a valuable opportunity to showcase our programmes and present information that will improve the skills and productivity of the National workforce."

The finals of the Tanmia-Damas National Career Quiz, an informative and challenging test of knowledge, will be a highlight of the show, where participants from the UAE University (UAEU), Zayed University (ZU) and Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) will be vying for the title of Career Quiz 2006.

The event will feature talks on relevant topics such as 'New Opportunities through Government Intervention' and 'Job Realities' by Ayesha Al Suwaidi, Tanmia's Senior Counsellor, that will focus on employment opportunities made available to Nationals through government initiatives and policies and on the changing dynamics of the domestic labour market.

Under Tanmia's recently launched initiative, Business and Industry Sector Forums, presentations titled 'Booming Times', 'Opportunity or Illusion', 'A Healthy Career' and 'The Industry Behind The Scenes' will be hosted. These fora will serve as a platform to raise career and educational awareness among National students and jobseekers concerning the vast employment opportunities available to them in the UAE's growing economy. Debates on the changing pace of the dynamic UAE market and a glimpse at woman achievers will also feature.

Prominent educationists, industrialists and professionals will speak on these topics highlighting issues pertaining to the growth of the UAE economy, skills and attitudes required in the prevailing job market, entrepreneurship development, career options in the fast-growing tourism, event management, health, manufacturing and IT sectors, free zones, training programmes available to UAE Nationals under Emiratisation, employer expectations and trends in the labour market.

Tanmia is working together with UAEU, HCT and ZU in its efforts to make Careers 2006 a huge success. The event is part of Tanmia's efforts to provide a favourable environment for interaction between employers and job seekers, and to address specific issues such as employment opportunities, career trends and job market realities in the UAE.
