Tech Access named Channel Development Provider

  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, October 17 - 2001 at 15:39
  • PRESS RELEASE

Sun Microsystems has appointed Tech Access as its Channel Development Provider (CDP) for the Levant, GCC, Egypt and Pakistan - a first for the region. Tech Access will work with Sun's reseller channel to sell, market and support Sun technology.

"The appointment is part of our changing channel strategy for this region. This new model has had great success in Europe, Asia and the Americas and we believe that can be mirrored here," said Denis Heraud, Managing Director Middle East & Africa, Sun Microsystems.

Sun introduced the new channel model over two years ago with the aim of creating a consistent approach to the EMEA market. "This harmonisation process has been highly successful with common legal terms being offered to all Sun resellers in Europe," said Heraud.

"Our CDP programme is part of an aggressive strategy to extend our market coverage globally. The model is completely focused on serving the reseller channel. CDPs are there to provide sales, logistic, administrative, marketing and technical support to existing resellers enabling them to more effectively exploit opportunities within the market place," continued Heraud.

Tech Access, as the new CDP, has responsibility for developing and extending Sun's market reach in the Levant, GCC, Egypt and Pakistan by expanding and supporting its reseller network.

Tech Access will take over Sun's distribution and logistic network in the Levant, GCC, Egypt and Pakistan as well as incorporating 'value added' functions such as administration, sales and post sales support and first-line technical help desk support to current Sun resellers. This will enable Sun to focus its available resources on key foundation accounts.

"As Sun's CDP for the region, we will offer Sun resellers an unprecedented level of assistance, ensuring they have comprehensive logistic, administrative, sales and technical support from day one," said Sardar M. Ghalib, Chairman of the Board, Tech Access.

"We are in a unique position to achieve this. Having already attained Sun's highest level of accreditation, Sun Datacenter certification, we are well versed in Sun technology, adept in its use as well as its application across all industries. This, coupled with our in-depth knowledge of regional business practices, gives us complete understanding of the challenges resellers face and how to best serve their needs."

Tech Access will service Sun's regional reseller network from its Dubai Internet City headquarters.

"Sun has always shown strong commitment to its resellers and the introduction of the CDP programme in this region can only enhance this reputation. We have already established a healthy working relationship with Tech Access, which has been the region's Sun Datacenter Country Reseller, and we look forward to taking this to the next level," said Heraud.
