Swimming pools worth Dhs47 million at four sports clubs in Dubai

Dubai Municipality will soon begin works of a Dhs47 million project to build semi-Olympic swimming pools in four sports clubs of Dubai.
"This project will boost the overall performance of the four clubs as budding athletes will benefit from the high-level training in order to participate in local and international championships," said Al Maidour.
He added that the project comprises of a full-fledged training facility in swimming in each of the four clubs. The facility will consist a semi-Olympic swimming pool with a total area of 312.5 square meters, a stadium with a capacity of 340 people, health club, cafeteria, changing rooms, toilets and administrative offices.
The building will be centrally air-conditioned and fitted with a state-of-the-art water treatment system and electronic score boards - all in line with international standards set by authorised sports bodies.
In 2002, Dubai Municipality had undertaken development works at Al Nasr and Al Ahli sports clubs at a total cost of over Dhs22 million to prepare them to host the Dubai Group matches of the World Youth Football Championship 2002.
The works, which were undertaken in line with the specifications drawn up by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), included a press area with seats for journalists, TV and radio commentators, interview rooms, 16 camera posts, TV & radio studios, and a media centre equipped with telephone, fax, Internet and email facilities.
