Dubai School of Government hosts Mutar Al Tayer at the first gathering of Dubai Policy Watch

Dubai School of Government, the region's leading knowledge institution for government studies hosted yesterday, Mutar Al Tayer, CEO of Dubai Transport Authority at its first Dubai Policy Watch event.
Attending the discussion were CEO's , COO's, senior members of management at Dubai Customs, The Ruler's Court, Dubai Courts, Lands Department, Dubai Police, Istithmar, Dubai Department of Economic Development, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Development Board, Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, and the Ports, Customs & Free Zones Corporation.
Speaking from the view of Dubai Transport Authority, Al Tayer answered questions regarding the key alternatives for reducing traffic in Dubai, and the effects of those measures on the standard of living and the future economic development. He also explained the possible ways to cooperate with other governmental departments to tackle this issue.
Nabil Ali Al Yousuf, Executive President of the Dubai School of Government, said "The Dubai Policy Watch is a new initiative by Dubai School of Government with the Dubai Government leaders programme with the purpose of encouraging the discussion of certain issues related to policy making and arriving at useful conclusions with recommendations for change and improvement."
He also explained that such events are highly based on research and dialogue where government leaders come together to exchange opinions resulting from in-depth studies of current issues.
Al Tayer has spent almost 23 years in governmental offices including the roads department, Dubai municipality and Dubai Transportation Authority, in addition to being a member of various committees including the budget committee for the government of Dubai and vice president of the infrastructure committee in Dubai.
The Dubai School of Government plans to establish the Dubai Policy Watch as a periodic event in partnership with the Dubai Government Leaders programme to offer a platform for discussing policies and encouraging the exchange of views to allow participants to gain an in-depth view of current policy issues that affect Dubai, while giving them the chance to interact with the decision making process.
The Dubai School of Government who continually organises high level forums for senior public officials and leading international thinkers has previously hosted many world leaders such as H.E. Lee Kuan Yew, founder and ex-Prime Minister of Singapore and Professor Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum.
