GCC postal management's meeting discusses new projects

Representatives from the postal managements of GCC countries held an extraordinary meeting to discuss issues of common interest, including the creation of a GCC-wide speed post and a postal transport company.

The meeting discussed the progress of the recommendations made in the last meeting held in Saudi Arabia which focused on unification of purchase operations and standardizing the sourcing of postal items in bulk. The delegates set a time table for implementing the proposals for a postal transport company and a common speed post for the GCC.

Abdullah Al Daboos commented;

"This meeting is significant because it will help drive the efforts for fostering greater cooperation between postal authorities in the GCC. The recommendations will help postal organizations to upgrade services for the benefit of customers."
