The project, which also includes addition of new lanes, is in line with RTA's strategy to develop an integrated transport network to accommodate the influx of people and the upcoming structures and developments in the Emirate.

The roundabouts include Burj Nahar No 38 between the streets of Raheed and Omar Bin Al Khattab, Rashid Cross No 27 between Abu Bakher Al Saddique and Al Rasheed, Al Wahidah Cross No 124 between Al Wahidah and Al Rasheed, and finally, Al Shabab Club Cross No 122 between Al Mamzar and Al Rasheed.

Engineer Maitha Bint Adi, Director of Roads, RTA, said, 'Construction on this project involves sand works, road works and asphalt works. The sand from the center and the sides of the roundabouts will be excavated, and the roundabouts will be converted into signalized junctions. Traffic diversions will be provided wherever required, to avoid any inconvenience to pedestrians and commuters. Moreover, we would be beautifying these areas by planting greenery.'

The project also includes modification of sign-boards and providing of more parking area in Al Shabab Club. In addition to this, service roads will be laid out at Burj Nahar and Rashid Cross, and the Cairo Road will be widened.

'With constant research and development, we are working towards providing an integrated transport network with latest infrastructure to cope with the current and future needs of the Emirate,' she added.
