Royal Jordanian moves to JFK Terminal 4

Majali added that RJ is now joining 50 airlines flying from the airport's most prestigious, and only privatized, terminal. "The company's new vision is to be the airline of choice, and moving to Terminal 4 is in line with this vision since Terminal 4 represents the terminal of choice," said Majali.

Modeled after the world-renowned Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, JFK's Terminal 4 occupies 165 acres, one of the largest properties of the JFK airport, and is one of the largest air terminals in North America. It also houses the only internal station for AirTrain, JFK's light rail system connecting all JFK terminals, long-term parking, car rental and hotel locations.

Maca added that Terminal 4, the 1.5-million-square-foot facility at JFK International Airport opened in May 2001; it has an annual passenger volume of 6.5 million air travelers. "Terminal 4 has a capacity of 3,200 passengers per hour and is the only one at JFK open 24 hours a day. It offers air travelers weatherproof transit between terminals and mass transit systems, in addition to a selection of class restaurants, shops and lounges. Terminal 4's efficient check-in system ensures that passengers have more time available to shop, dine and explore," said Maca.

Starting with mid-May, Royal Jordanian will operate five non-stop weekly flights to New York instead of four. The airline has flown to New York since 1977.

Royal Jordanian provides non-stop, wide-body service to Jordan on Airbus A340-200's, with 24 Crown Class seats and 230 economy seats. Flights to Amman depart on Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The airline flies to over 50 destinations throughout the Middle East, Gulf Region, Europe, Far East and North Africa. U.S. gateways in addition to New York are Chicago and Detroit.

RJ is one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East, but boasts one of the youngest fleets. It has been recognized for outstanding service with an array of prestigious awards, including the Platinum Star Award in Air Travel Services.

JFK IAT is the first private, non-airline consortium selected by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to develop and manage an airport terminal.
