Shahida Shuttari was awarded $1,000 by NIVEA BEAUTÉ in recognition of her creative skills and artistic talent. The decision of the winning entry was based on various parameters that were laid down by the judging panel prior to the competition. The student's university was also awarded a trophy for educational excellence.
Speaking on the occasion, R.H. Hussain, Director General of Preston University said,
"It is a moment of great honour and pride for us to know that a student from our institute has been selected to win this prestigious award. We are very grateful to NIVEA BEAUTÉ for providing us this opportunity to be involved in an activity that encourages young talent and provides them the motivation to further enhance their creativity by working on unique projects. We feel that there is a wealth of talent in the region, which just needs to be channelized in the right direction with proper guidance and such positive initiatives work as very effective tools to tap this potential."
Shahida Shuttairi, the winning student added, "I am extremely pleased to receive this award and to get recognition for my work from NIVEA BEAUTÉ, a global brand that I have always admired. In fact, not only do I always use NIVEA products, but it has been an all-time favourite for everyone in my family, passed on from one generation to the next."
She further added, "I really enjoyed working on the NIVEA BEAUTÉ project and this a very special moment for me. The most unique aspect of the competition was that it gave us an opportunity to work on a real project that will actually get implemented. Since we were given strict design parameters to work with, we had to think of every little detail of the design, which made it quite challenging. It has been a great learning experience and I am really looking forward to see the NIVEA BEAUTÉ beauty consultants wear these outfits."
The winning design will immediately go into production and be worn by NIVEA BEAUTÉ beauty consultants around the region. The purpose of this competition was not only to come up with design concepts for NIVEA BEAUTÉ but to search for young and hidden talent in universities and to encourage students. The competition aimed to motivate students by giving them an opportunity to develop their design skills into a real life experience.
Speaking on the success of the competition, Jean-Manuel Canga-Valles, Regional Marketing Director - Brands, Beiersdorf Middle East said," We are very pleased with the positive response received for this competition and would like to thank each and every student who participated for putting so much effort into their designs. We look forward to initiating future competitions in order to support universities in their education and to encourage students."
The competition was open to all design universities across the GCC. Each student had to submit up to six sketches; three for the winter and three for the summer season. The uniforms had to be based on NIVEA BEAUTÉ's corporate colours - navy blue, sky blue and white plus other criteria that needed to be taken into account in the design such as fabric and wearability.
NIVEA BEAUTÉ offers a full range of colour cosmetic products for lips, eyes, face and nails in the most beautiful and trendy colors. The NIVEA BEAUTÉ range can be found in all leading pharmacies and stores throughout the region.
