First quarter sales of Kia vehicles in UAE have risen by 28.1% year-on-year, with Recreational Vehicles leading the way at 67.7% while passenger cars following with a 28.1% growth.

The continued strong sales of the popular Sportage compact SUV along with other hot selling models such as the A-segment Picanto and the C-segment Cerato cumulatively contributed 60.8% to Al Majid Motors Co's total sales in March 2006. The sales of passenger cars contributed 56% of the total sales and recreational vehicles and light commercial vehicles contributed 35% and 9%, respectively during the month.

"Since February 2005 we have been experiencing a steady growth on Kia's monthly retail sales in UAE and we are confident that this momentum will go further with our recent launch of the all new family van Carnival along with our current sales promotion, in line with Kia's partnership with FIFA as the official automotive partner of the World Cup until 2014, which will bring ten proud KIA owners to Germany to watch the 2006 World Cup", said Mr. Samir Tayeh, General Manager of Al Majid Motors Co.

"This steady growth is a clear evidence that the Kia brand is rapidly gaining recognition in the UAE not just as a maker of small compact passenger vehicles, but also as a trusted manufacturer of a complete vehicle line-up, from the entry-level sub-compact vehicle to highly competitive recreational vehicles,"

he added.
