"Etix allows our customers even greater flexibility. With this new service, in particular, we are offering our customers a better alternative to the paper ticket, who have previously not used a credit, Miles & More or Star Alliance card",
explains Mr. Ashraf Dawe, Manager Passenger Sales, Lufthansa German Airlines. "With the introduction of the electronic ticket, etix, Lufthansa is confirming its claim of leadership in innovation and quality in the industry."
Passengers who decide in favour of an etix instead of a paper ticket have numerous advantages. The ticket is stored electronically in the Lufthansa system. As a result, no fees are charged for the printing and mailing of a paper ticket, or for depositing it at the airport. Transfers are also possible for the customer at short notice, taking into consideration the rate conditions and availability.
Customers who quote the number of their Miles & More card, their Star Alliance card, their credit card or a bank card when making a booking, will enjoy further advantages. "Passengers travelling on an etix stored under a card number will benefit from speedy and simple procedures which we have extended, in particular, through numerous mobile check-in services such as Internet or WAP check-in", emphasizes Mr. Ashraf Dawe. He further said, "We are investing in the latest technology to make the journey as comfortable as possible for our guests' right from the start".
Lufthansa was the first airline in Germany to introduce ticket less travel in November 1996 on all intra-German routes as well as on flights to London (Heathrow) and Paris (Charles-de-Gaulle). Meantime, the etix ticket can be used on flights to 54 international destinations in 31 countries (Amsterdam, Ankara, Athens, Atlanta, Bangkok, Barcelona, Beirut, Belgrade, Birmingham, Bombay, Boston, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Istanbul, Izmir, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Kattowice, Larnaca, London City, Lyons, Madrid, Malta, Milan (Linate and Malpensa), Manchester, New York (JFK and Newark), Lisbon, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Minsk, Porto, Prague, Riga, Rome, San Francisco, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Tel Aviv, Toronto, Vancouver, Vilnius, Washington, Warsaw and Vienna). And now including Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the U.A.E
Passengers booking an etix to fly in Business Class and on all flexible Economy-Class fares (no advance booking deadline, no minimum stay, no re-booking charge) pay less than with the usual paper ticket.
