Krishna Murthy, Acer's Middle East general manager, commented:
"We are pleased to announce these impressive year-end results which confirm Acer as the Kingdom's most successful notebook vendor. With a population of 23 million people, 40 percent of them under 15, Saudi Arabia is one of our most important markets, with enormous potential for growth. We have no doubt that BDL will help us to achieve even greater success there in the future."
Internet usage in Saudi Arabia has increased by more than 1,000 percent since 2000, and there are around 300,000 new users per year.
Acer, which is ranked as one of the world's top five branded PC vendors, has enjoyed a three-year partnership with the Saudi-based hardware manufacturer and distributor.
Murthy attributed their shared success to a combination of factors: Acer's innovative product range backed by world-class service and affordable pricing; and BDL's aggressive sales strategy which does not permit a build-up of warehouse stock.
"Due to the unparalleled success that Acer has achieved in the Kingdom since the inauguration of this relationship, the partnership with BDL is set to continue for many years ahead," continued Murthy.
ACER continues to grow and diversify across a wide spectrum of varying markets both in Saudi Arabia and in the wider Gulf region. The company's integrated product line, which includes LCD TVs, digital projectors and cameras, as well as PCs and media centres, reflects an increased demand from Middle Eastern customers for latest in home and office technologies.
