SWISS is currently working with authorities to accept the self-printed boarding passes, but in the meantime, passengers will still have to meet with SWISS ground staff prior to departure to hand over their luggage and collect their boarding passes.
Felix Rodel, Area Manager Middle East and Africa at SWISS, said:
"Web check-in has been launched to ensure that passengers have a smoother travel experience. It's all about taking the pressure out of flying; with busier daily schedules and the pressure of the journey to the airport, the online check in allows passengers to take a little of the stress from their journey."
Visit swiss.com and select the Web Check-in function, enter your name and flight details, passengers will then be asked to confirm their journey and select the seat. Passengers can also select seats for onward journey's from Zurich, as long as the destination airport supports web check-in. The function also works for groups travelling together, of up to nine people.
Passengers travelling on one of SWISS' daily non-stop flights to Zurich and beyond can make use of this service, and the airline hopes that passengers will soon be able to print their own boarding passes, ensuring no queues and making for a smoother transit at Dubai International Airport.
