Sunil Marya named new Vice President and General Manager for Dubai's Marco Polo Hotel

The announcement on Marya's promotion was made before the Arabian Travel Market as the group participates with a stand this year at the DTCM Dubai Pavilion in the Middle East Hall section.

Sunil Marya, a seasoned hotelier backed with 28 years of solid hospitality experience spanning careers with prestigious hotels including the Intercontinental Group in India where he started out as a senior manager handling food and beverage division under the Taj Mahal Intercontinental in Mumbai, India. He has moved onwards and worked with hotels such as Kempinski, the Raheja Hotel Group in Mumbai, the Golden Tulip before joining the Savoy Group in 1996.

For the last 10 years in Dubai, Sunil was instrumental in the successful management of the Marco Polo Hotel, the first four star property owned and managed by the Savoy & Marco Polo Group. Since that time, Sunil saw the expansion of the group's portfolio into four properties including the fully furnished hotel apartments namely: Savoy Hotel Apartments, Savoy Park Hotel Apartments and the deluxe Savoy Crest Hotel Apartment.

Asked on his visions for the hotel and the group, Sunil Marya comments,

I envisioned the Marco Polo Hotel to become the most popular hotel amongst the four star properties in Dubai. He added, "Both the Savoy and the Marco Polo Group have nurtured plans to expand its portfolio within the United Arab Emirates starting off in Abu Dhabi where we are initially discussing opportunities to manage similar properties to which we have now become experts and specialists especially in the four star hotels and furnished apartments category.
