DTCM brings 196 hosted buyers and media personnel from 20 countries for ATM-2006

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), as part of its endeavor to create further awareness about Dubai and provide support to the local tourism industry, arranged the visit of 196 hosted-buyers and media representatives from 20 countries for the Arabian Travel Market (ATM-2006) held from May 2 to 5.
He said the ATM, which is held under the DTCM auspices, has been utilized to bring hosted-buyers and media personnel to Dubai and enhance their knowledge and understanding about the emirate and thereby create better business growth avenues in different source markets.
The delegations that DTCM hosted during the ATM-2006 came from 20 countries, including the UK, US, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Russia, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland.
DTCM Executive Missions, Mr. Abdullah bin Suwaidan, said an extensive programme was arranged for the visitors which included visit to major hotels, tourist attractions, new projects currently under construction and the Dubai International Airport. The visitors also enjoyed desert safari and creek dhow cruises in addition to the city tour. Workshops were also conducted during their stay.
Mr. bin Mejren said private and public sector organisations, especially hotels and tour operators, have provided their support and cooperation to make their trip memorable and meaningful. The department had set-up the biggest stand in its history at the ATM-2006 measuring 801 square metres and featuring 70 booths and 124 co-participant organisations.
