Mr. Khalifa Ali Buamaim, DTCM Manager Overseas Promotions said :
"A number of new initiatives were launched during the Arabian Travel Market 2006. The heritage corner for the first time was part of the DTCM stand and there was a calligrapher to provide a live demonstration about the ancient art of the Arabic script. "
The Arabian Travel Market 2006 also witnessed free e-gate cards being given to all visitors at the DTCM stand. Brochures including vital information about the DTCM Overseas Representative Offices, tourist missions were also distributed among the co-participants during the course of the ATM.
Ms. Nadia Sultan, DTCM Executive Sales and Marketing, DTCM-Dubai Convention Bureau said that a large number of enquiries have been received by the department from the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE ) industry who evinced interest in the growing number of MICE events that have been hosted during 2005.
Another interesting feature of ATM 2006 were the schoolchildren who gave a live demonstration of craftsmanship inside the DTCM stand at the ATM 2006. Ms. Wafa Ahmed Shaheen, teacher at Al Kholafa Rashideen School said that there were 40 school boys and girls who gave live demonstration of different forms of craftsmanship like carpentry etc.
"The main idea was to uphold and revive Dubai's heritage and tradition," she said.
Mr. Hamad bin Hareb, Executive Partner, Al Koufa Services and one of the co-participants at the DTCM stand said that the ATM proved to be an excellent opportunity to promote Dubai's traditional cuisine which are available for tourists.
Mr. Ashraf Safei, Director of Sales and Marketing, Al Sondos Suites and Dar Al Sondos Hotel Apartments said that the participation of the group at the ATM was aimed at promoting the Bab Al Shams project which was very useful and effective."
