- United Arab Emirates: Monday, May 08 - 2006 at 13:18
- PRESS RELEASE
The Qatar Financial Centre Authority held a business breakfast for representatives of Qatari insurance companies on 4 May.
The morning event was held at the QFC in its offices in the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. Fetooh Al Zayani, Managing Director Business Development - Insurance and Reinsurance, of the Qatar Financial Centre Authority, described the role of the QFC and progress being made, particularly in the insurance and reinsurance sectors. Mr Curtis spoke about the electronic trading services provided for the insurance and reinsurance industry by RI3K, which has a community of over 1000 professionals from 150 companies. Representatives of the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority joined the meeting participants.
Fetooh Al Zayani said: "This was more of a "getting-to-know-you" session than a formal event. It reflects the strategy we are pursuing of helping to raise awareness and standards in the industry as a whole in Qatar. We were delighted that Tom Curtis was able to join us and explain how web-based technologies are helping to solve the pressing industry problems of transparency in business process, audit-ability of transactions and clarity / certainty in contract closure. I believe the insurance companies who attended found the event valuable both in understanding the supporting and collaborative role the QFC is hoping to play in Qatar's insurance sector, and in allowing them to discuss state of the art technologies in conducting insurance & reinsurance business in the global marketplace with a leading international service provider."
Fetooh Al Zayani's appointment at the Qatar Financial Centre Authority was announced on 20 March. Her role is to generate and manage partnerships between the QFC and the national, regional and international insurance industry, and to contribute to the development of insurance and re-insurance as a key business within the Qatar Financial Centre Authority.
Fetooh Al Zayani's career spans 25 years of marketing, underwriting and management in the regional and international insurance and re-insurance industry. She is widely recognized as one of the most prominent regional personalities in the insurance and reinsurance market.
