Mr Ali Al Jallaf, Director, Dubai Cargo Village received the award in Malaysia.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates, commented:

"This achievement has come as a result of the supporting environment provided by the Government of Dubai to the Department of Civil Aviation. Standing at the crossroads between the east and the west, Dubai offers vast opportunity for trade and business. We aim to offer the best possible service and facility to the industry."

Now in its 19th year, AFSCA is firmly established as the highlight of the Asian freight industry. The name of the award was changed - from AFIA to AFSCA - to reflect the ongoing transformation of the various sectors that Cargonews Asia reports about. The moot point of the AFIA is that it is the only Asian freight poll where customers, and not a panel of judges, are asked to vote for the best service providers. More than 13,000 readers of Cargonews Asia, a leading freight industry newspaper, were individually balloted and asked to vote for who they thought were the best service providers in 37 industry specific categories. All returned nomination forms and final ballot forms were audited by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, an international audit firm.

In the Middle East Dubai International Airport polled 66% of the votes.

Mr Ali Al Jallaf, Director Dubai Cargo Village, commented: "The Cargo Village takes pride in the standard of services and facilities provided. This award has been given on the basis of customer preference and hence is a reconfirmation of our efforts in providing the best for our customers. We aim to continuously upgrade our standards and provide even better service."

In 2005 Dubai Cargo Village handled 1.3 million tones and expects to handle about 1.5 million this year. By now 50% of the construction work at the Cargo Mega Terminal is completed, making it ready to operate by next year to increase the cargo handling capacity to 2.5 million tones per annum. Today Dubai Cargo village is ranked 18th in the world .

Dubai Cargo Village has till date won 18 international awards.
