  • PRESS RELEASE

Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi's premium shopping destination, has partnered with The Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi (EAD) to host their annual environment competition at the Exhibition Court in the mall.

Running from the 30th of April until the 8th of May, students of all Abu Dhabi schools participated in the event.

The Annual Environment Competition was first organized in the year 2000, and every year centers around the United Nations (UN) theme for World Environment Day. The theme for this year was 'Green Cities - Plan for the Planet'. Through the competition, children were encouraged to think about air, water, waste, and hence express their visions of clean and unpolluted cities.

This year, 730 entries were submitted from 165 public and private school in the capital; 184 from kindergarten students, 273 from upper primary, 129 intermediate, and 114 secondary. On the judging panel, the evaluators included officials from Zayed University, Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations, freelance artists, and education officials.

The last day of the competition was May 8th where officials selected the 55 winning entries, and the winners received various stationery and school items as prizes. The awards ceremony took place at Marina Mall's exclusive Exhibition Court.

Marina Mall is owned and managed by National Investment Corporation (N.I.C).
