The latest figures from international market analysts GfK-MEMRB Marketing Services confirm the sharp increase in market share.

According to the research, sales of Motorola mobiles have increased by more than 100 per cent since September 2005. While Motorola's share of all mobile handsets sold in the UAE stood at 5.3 per cent last September, the figure has risen to 10.9 per cent by March this year.

At the same time as doubling their unit sales, Motorola's fortunes in terms of market value have tripled, from 2.8 per cent in September 2005 to 10.7 per cent in March.

Commenting on the Gfk MEMRB report, Neal Barros, General Manager, Globalnet said, "Motorola understands the incredibly diverse tastes in the region and their ability to cater to them is what sets them apart from other mobile manufacturers."

The worldwide popularity of the fully loaded RAZR V3i, widely acknowledged as a design icon, has been the driving force behind Motorola's recent resurgence. Motorola's latest offerings also include the innovative PEBL U6, and the SLVR L7 which is even slimmer than the super-slim RAZR.

"With such a comprehensive portfolio of handsets, Motorola is poised to go straight to the top and Globalnet will continue investing in the resources to ensure the journey is smooth," says Barros.

Over the years, Globalnet has regularly been awarded for their marketing successes. These include Motorola's 'Highest Sales Award' for 2000 and 2002, the 'Business Development Award' for 2002 and the Middle East and North Africa 'Distributor of the year award' for highest growth in sales in 2004. Globalnet was named Motorola's 'Distributor of the Year' for the MENA region in recognition of its exemplary work in 2005.
