- Thursday, May 11 - 2006 at 07:07
Gold surged to fresh 25-year highs above $704 an ounce on Wednesday as investors pumped in more cash on a weak US dollar. The dollar hit one-year lows against major currencies, with investors betting on the US Federal Reserve pulling back on rate rises. Other commodities also hit new highs, as Copper jumped above $8,000 a tonne for the first time and Zinc hit $3,556.25 a tonne.
