- Jordan: Thursday, May 11 - 2006 at 07:56
- PRESS RELEASE
Saad Nasir, General Manager of Fastlink, one of MTC group companies, stressed that partnership with Hussein Cancer Foundation is strategic and comes as part of Fastlink's conviction to reinforce the concept of social partnership.
"Towards life campaign, which was first launched in 2002 was a success due to the commitment of both parties and their belief in the campaign's goal," said Mr. Nasir during his visit to the Hussein Cancer Foundation today where he met with HRH princess Dina, the foundation's general director. "The campaign provides Jordanian citizens with an opportunity to assume an active role in combating cancer through donations for cancer-stricken children via mobile phones," he added. The meeting was also attended by doctor Mahmoud Sarhan, Hussein Cancer Center General Manager.
Citizens donations through SMS and calls reached 33.575 JD during the last three months of the previous year. While in 2003 and 2004, the donations reached 63,000 JD.
Nasir added that treating children with cancer is everybody's responsibility. He said, "We, at Fastlink, feel that we have become part and parcel of this campaign. He stressed that Fastlink is keen on continuing its parallel plans which seek to strengthen the company's role to serve the Jordanian society. This could be done through launching sustainable projects and initiatives or through creating strategic partnership with civil society institutions.
For her part, HRH Princess Dina thanked Fastlink for its continued support noting that "Fastlink has been a real partner in the fight against cancer for the past three years. We hope that many other corporations will follow suit in order to succeed and make a real difference in the efforts towards combating cancer," she said.
Since the campaign kicked off, Fastlink has donated 150,000 JD. Besides, it has distributed boxes for cash donations in all of its shops across the Kingdom in order to encourage visitors to donate for the campaign.
Fastlink, the Kingdom's number one operator, has paid special attention to the health sector. It has launched a mobile clinic that provides medical care for children in remote and underprivileged areas in the Kingdom. The clinic is supplied with all the required medical equipment and prescription drugs. It also provides dental treatment.
