"Air-conditioning is a major factor in the increasing power consumption, and immediate measures to ensure greater energy efficiency are the need of the hour," said C.H Lee, President, LG Electronics FZE.
Addressing delegates at a recent AC seminar in Dubai, C. H Lee, President, LG Electronics Gulf FZE, said: "Economic development, increasing industrial capacity and fast population growth are fuelling massive demand for electricity in the region. Air-conditioning is a major factor in the increasing power consumption, and immediate measures to ensure greater energy efficiency are the need of the hour."

LG and its authorised dealer for central air-conditioners for Dubai and Northern Emirates, Fortune International Trading Co. LLC, hosted a technical seminar on Multi-Power Systems (MPS).

The seminar saw the launch of LG's Fan Coil Units (FCUs), which cater to the chilled water market, and new 'tropical' AC technology that delivers superior results in extreme climates. More than 400 delegates from the construction industry and government organisations received presentations on LG's leadership in the AC industry, and inspected product displays.

Lee added: "LG is committed to introducing innovative products that enhance consumers' lives. Our air conditioners are designed to combine quality, energy efficiency, and convenience for all seasons. Technology leadership coupled with pricing advantages created by volume manufacturing have helped us make major strides in the regional AC sector."

LG topped global air-conditioners sales for the sixth consecutive year in 2005, notching up of 10 million units. The company has averaged 20 per cent growth for ACs each year since 2000.

LG has strengthened its position by developing the Tropical MPS air conditioner. Tropical MPS technology yields tremendous energy savings by distributing the electricity load between two highly efficient, constant speed compressors. With multiple compressors operating according to increasing cooling requirements, considerable energy can be saved.

This technology saves up to 35 per cent electricity and is highly reliable in severe climates and for continuous operation. It is also economical and easy to install.

The launch of the Fan Coil Units (FCU) will give building contractors a premium choice in the air conditioning market. FCUs are compact, energy efficient, and easy to maintain.

According to leading Japanese market research consultancy Fuji-Keizai, LG sold approximately 10,500,000 units last year out of the total 60,420,000 units sold worldwide. LG air conditioners have consistently outperformed industry averages.

Sales volumes exceeded 10 million in 2005 despite high oil prices, and a cool summer in Europe and North America.
