Licensed liquor stores in Abu Dhabi are losing thousands of dirhams of business to illegal suppliers coming from the northern emirates, reported Gulf News. Unlicensed sellers are buying alcohol in licensed stores in northern emirates, and then risking police checks on the Emirates Road to sell alcohol to private buyers in Abu Dhabi, undercutting the licensed stores. Cheap Indian whiskey is particularly popular with buyers.
