20 new diabetes centres are to be opened in Saudi Arabia as part of the government's efforts to tackle the growing number of diabetic patients in the kingdom, reported Arab News. Figures suggest that up to 30% of Saudi's population suffers from diabetes, costing the government $800m a month in treatment. Over 50% of the Saudi population is obese and so large numbers are vulnerable to suffering from the condition.
