The CPD Program that was held at the Jumeirah College is designed to improve teacher interactions with students, other faculty members and parents with the end goal of creating positive working relationships and enhancing opportunities for students.

The day-long program offered three types of workshops: student-focused workshops including 'How to Talk So Children Listen and Listen So Children Talk'; 'Global Nomads - The Benefits and Challenges of Expatriate Living'; parent-focused workshops such as 'Hosting Effective Parent Evenings'; and teacher-focused workshops including 'Positive Strategies in Leading People' and 'Leading in Times of Change'.

Hugh MacPherson, Chief Operating Officer of GEMS Education, said the CPD program was quickly oversubscribed, reflecting the commitment of GEMS faculty to continuing education and further development.

'GEMS Education believes that CPD is an essential part of a teacher's ongoing professional training and this event is part of our commitment to providing it,' he said. 'The response from our schools has been tremendous, and we are proud of our teachers for dedicating personal time on their weekends for the mutual benefit of themselves and the students.'

MacPherson added, 'All the workshops are designed to review best practice, provide creative ideas, and finally serve and further enhance GEMS core values of leadership skills and forward thinking. Teachers are ideal continuing education participants as they continually pass on their learning to students.'

As GEMS Education move in to the new academic year, and given the excellent outcome of this year's delegates, GEMS Education believes this event will continue to grow and thrive in the coming years.
