DTCM Roadshows in AGCC countries draw popular response

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), is conducting a series of roadshows and workshops in AGCC countries as part of its continuing efforts to attract more visitors to Dubai, during the upcoming Dubai Summer Surprises.

The first phase of the promotional and marketing programme started on May 13 and touched the countries of Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain. The second leg will cover the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and three cities of Al Khobar, Riyadh and Jeddah will be covered over a period of six days starting May 20th.

Dubai's trend-setting shopping extravaganza, the Dubai Summer Surprises is hugely popular among visitors from the AGCC countries. In 2005, as many as 1,211,407 hotel visitors came into Dubai from AGCC countries, showing an upward increase of 15 per cent from the previous years.

DTCM Manager Overseas Promotions, Mr. Khalifa Ali Buamaim, chaired the pre-fair meeting with the co-participants of the road shows.

DTCM Executive Overseas Promotions, Khalid bin Nassar is representing the department at the road shows. Mr. Aly El Zayat, Director of DTCM Overseas Representation office in Saudi Arabia, will join him during the Kingdom programme.

The first leg of the road shows attracted 43 co-participants and was co-sponsored by Chelsea Tower Hotel Apartments, Dubai Summer Surprises and Emirates airlines. The Saudi Arabia road shows will have 39 co-participants and its co-sponsors are Emirates Hotels and Resorts, Dubai Summer Surprises and Emirates airlines.

More than 1100 representatives from the travel and tourism industry in addition to the media organizations have been invited for the Saudi Arabia road shows. Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain road shows had participation from over 800 trade representatives.

Raffle draws are being held at each of the venue of the workshops where winners are being given free travel and hotel stay vouchers.
