GCC Post, Telecom and IT discusses meeting recommendations

HE Sultan Al Mansoori, Minister of Government Development Sector and Chairman of UAE Telecom Supreme Committee is chairing the 15th GCC Committee for Post, Telecom and IT in its meeting, which is currently being held in Abu Dhabi is discussing the various recommendations, listed in their agenda for the meeting.

The above committee is part of the GCC Secretariat General of the GCC countries.

The recommendations to be discussed and adopted are in the subcommittees of Telecom Regulation and IT, Telecom operators, the Post and the nominations files of GCC countries in International Telecom Union Council (ITU) membership.

In this regard, Al Mansoori stated by saying:" I am pleased to have all of GCC guests taking part in this meetings here in UAE". He added by saying: "I am pleased to see the positive spirit in the discussion and the constructive dialogue, which will only lead to better subcommittee proceedings for the adoption of the overall meetings recommendations".

UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have submitted their bids for the nomination of ITU council membership, which will be looked at by ITU during the ITU Plenipotentiary meetings scheduled to be held in 6-24 November this year in Istanbul, Turkey.

It is worth mentioning that should GCC countries bids to be ITU council members are accepted by ITU during this year Plenipotentiary meetings, the GCC countries will be a vital role player in the formation of international telecom laws, telecom regulations and telecom development on the regional and international levels.

About TRA Supreme Committee:
The Supreme Committee was formed by UAE federal government, and is headed by H.E. Sultan Al Mansoori, UAE minister of Government Sector Development. The rest of the Supreme Committee members are H.E. Ahmad Al Hamiri, representative of the President Office and H.E. Saeed Al Ghafli, and Ahmad Bin Byat, representative of the Vice-President office.

The supreme committee appointed the aboard of directors for TRA whose membership currently includes H.E. Mohamed Al Qamzi as Chairman of the Board, H.E Essam Al Tamimi, H.E Nasser Bin Obood, H.E Ahmad Al Hebaishi Al Mazrouie and TRA Director General H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim.
