It allows businesses to efficiently manage information throughout its lifecycle and to respond faster to evolving information demands.

'An uncontrollable volume of data is constantly growing, and how that information is efficiently managed by organizations can become a key challenge,'

said Mr. Mohamed El-Shanawany, Storage Sales Manager, IBM Middle East and Pakistan.

'With the DS4700 Express, businesses will be able to effectively control their data and transform their current environment into 'Information on Demand', which will increase their ability to respond faster to changing business needs and any customer requirement.'

A new addition to IBM's DS4000 Series, the DS4700 Express offers high performance, end-to-end 4 Gbps capable Fiber Channel connections designed to support up to 112 disk drives with the attachment of six DS4000 EXP810 disk enclosures. It provides up to 33.6 terabytes of physical storage capacity and supports eight total host channels with dual controllers for increased connectivity. The DS4700 Express offers dynamic backup, disaster recovery and resiliency capabilities that are designed to protect data and prevent failure as opposed to just respond and recover. With a choice of multiple RAID levels and redundant, hot-swappable components, the DS4700 helps customers to maintain enterprise-class levels of reliability, availability, and security.

The IBM System Storage DS4700 Express is designed to be an affordable, scalable storage server for storage consolidation and clustering applications. Its modular architecture, which includes Dynamic Capacity Addition and Dynamic Volume Expansion, can support on demand business environments by helping to enable storage to grow as demands increase. It also includes IBM System Storage Manager to help centrally manage the DS4000 Series.

The DS4700 Express Model offers the latest innovation from IBM in storage infrastructure performance and management. It is designed to allow upgrades to higher performing DS4000 Series systems while keeping data intact, helping to avoid disruptions. It also allows businesses to easily allocate storage capacity to achieve high utilization of storage space and low hardware and storage management costs.

'Customers in the Middle East today are increasingly seeking intelligent, high capacity storage systems to underpin the management of increasingly rich data sets. The DS4700 Express addresses that need,' added Mr. Shanawany.
