Tecom pays $283m for Maltacom

Tecom Investments has paid $283m for the Maltese government's 60% controlling stake in local telecom company Maltacom. Under the deal Tecom has agreed to invest $90m in technology in the firm, including 3G. In a separate deal last February, Tecom had agreed to invest $330m in the creation of IT village, SmartCity@Malta.
