Global Shipping & Logistics make two appointments

Al Shirawi's Global Shipping & Logistics has made two major appointments as it nears the first phase opening of a new 130 million Dirham warehousing and distribution centre in the UAE.

In a move that brings vital market experience to the company, Satya Tekkali has been appointed Distribution Centres Manager. Satya will be responsible for the deployment of customer needs within Global Shipping & Logistics warehousing and distribution environment.

With more than 20 years experience in retail logistics in the region, he has worked extensively on sophisticated warehouse management systems with Radio Frequency capabilities. He also brings an extensive knowledge on performance management and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tools which enable measurement of continuous process improvement within the warehousing sector.

Mike Lee, General Manager of Global Shipping & Logistics, said: "We are bringing together a selective team of experienced logistics professionals and Satya's vast experience will add immense value to our bench strength.

"Satya will play a critical role in all operational project implementations, defining business processes with customers, implementing strategies and systems as well as reviewing the KPI's our customers see as critical."

He added: "I am very excited about the team we have assembled, which will continue to grow. Satya's position and experience is a key benefit for our customers as we continue to grow with them."

Also, SSI Schaeffer has been awarded the mobile racking contract for the new cold store facility that will make up part of Global Shipping & Logistics' new centre at Dubai Investment Park.

SSI Schaeffer is a leading racking system provider and their involvement with GSL will result in the first mobile racking within a freezer environment within the Middle East.

Mike said: "We are delighted that the new facility will use SSI Schaeffer mobile racking in its cold store. This appointment will make it one of the most advanced warehouses in the region."
