This service delivers users faster and easier access to relevant and strategic business intelligence information.

With a familiar, browser-based search that ranks results based on user priorities, Cognos Go! delivers an intuitive and efficient way of quickly finding business intelligence (BI) information presented in reports, analyses, dashboards, metric information, and events across the organisation.

"BI is the business solution most closely and consistently linked with increased business performance," said Henry Morris, group vice president and general manager at IDC, the global market intelligence and advisory firm.

"Augmenting business intelligence applications with search capabilities represents an important development in performance management. With search functionality, end users can easily tap into the wealth of information available through BI solutions to quickly find resources and data to help improve decision making and enhance corporate performance."

Cognos 8 BI platform

Based on the proven web services and service orientated architecture (SOA)-based Cognos 8 BI platform that supports large data sources, several users and reports, Cognos Go! enables relevant enterprise performance information to be more easily and quickly accessible to more users.

While users easily search for BI content using simple keywords, Cognos Go! works behind the scenes to search the full data content of reports, not merely titles, descriptions, or metadata.

It uses fuzzy matching, sophisticated ranking and word stemming to help users fine-tune search terms and deliver relevant data. Existing business intelligence content is indexed and Cognos Go! supports the ability to specify search criteria using industry-standard tips and tricks to help customers quickly find the right information.

Better performance

Cognos Go! works with Cognos 8 BI, a groundbreaking product that provides decision makers at all levels of the enterprise with a consistent, accurate view of information to better manage performance.

"We can all appreciate the ease and speed that come with finding information or answers to our questions by using traditional Internet search tools," said David Brierley, regional manager, Cognos Middle East and Africa.

"With Cognos Go!, we can deliver traditional search benefits to the world of BI. Now, Cognos 8 BI users will have one-click access to meaningful, relevant, and consistent data which will help improve productivity and the quality of decision making."
