A reception to celebrate the launch of Gold Expressions 2006 was held at the Johara Ballroom at the Madinat Jumeirah.

Gold Expressions was first launched in 2004 to capitalise on the innovative 'Made in Italy' design and product excellence in order to stimulate global consumer demand for gold jewellery.

Mr. Moaz Barakat, Managing Director of the World Gold Council said,

'With Italy's pivotal role as the centre of innovation and excellence in the design and manufacture of gold jewellery, we regard the robust Italian gold jewellery business as critical to the growth of global gold consumption.'

This initiative by the World Gold Council brings together the best in Italian designers and manufacturers to produce outstanding gold jewellery for sale worldwide. Being commercially focussed, Gold Expressions aims to revitalise the Italian industry and increase the desirability of gold jewellery around the world.

The reception was a glamorous affair. The hall was lit by the warmth of yellow and orange, reminding one of gold's favourite hue. After a brief introduction to all the guests, the show began. Models dressed in elegant, floor-length gowns in white, bronze and black walked the ramp showing off the classy and dazzling pieces of gold jewellery to the guests. The first part of the fashion show was followed by a presentation which gave the audience a closer look into the world of Italian gold jewellery. The second sequence of the fashion show successfully created more allure for the already favoured gold.

Italian Goldsmiths are known throughout the world for creating only the very best in the design and manufacture of gold jewellery. They are quality conscious and through research-based product development, they have aimed at refocusing business and consumer attention worldwide on the excellence of Italian designs.

The ongoing support of Vicenza Fair and AngloGold Ashanti, their joint sponsorship of the Gold Expressions 2006 project with the World Gold Council, is both helping to revitalize the Italian industry and revive the desirability of gold jewellery worldwide.

The evening of gorgeous glamour and glitter came to an end on a high note - one created by gold.
