- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, May 20 - 2006 at 11:58
- PRESS RELEASE
The School of Business Administration (SBA) at the American University in Dubai (AUD) was granted full accreditation by the Board of Commissioners of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) in the USA.
IACBE is a specialized accrediting body for business & business-related degree programs at the baccalaureate and graduate degree levels in colleges and universities. Its accreditation covers all of AUD's SBA degree programs including the Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and concentrations offered by the School.
The IACBE accreditation is the AUD's School of Business Administration's most recent laurel which, together with the accreditation by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research and with AUD's institutional accreditation in the US, attests to the SBA as a locally and internationally recognized provider of world-class business programs which meets the highest quality standards and expectations.
Dr. Jihad Nader, AUD's Provost and Chief Academic Officer, who attended the IACBE annual conference in Orlando, Florida, to receive the official certificate of accreditation, commented: "This specialized accreditation illustrates AUD's continuing efforts to not only maintain, but add to its academic excellence, and further enhance its programs for the benefit of its students, thus providing them with an internationally recognized degree to cater for and ensure more opportunities for their futures."
Dr. Nader added that this accreditation was the culmination of a rigorous process involving development of mission-based goals and learning objectives, development of an outcomes assessment plan with direct and indirect measures of learning outcomes, development of complex rubrics for use in outcomes measurement, implementation of the outcomes assessment plan, and writing and submitting a comprehensive self-study reporting the results of the measurement and presenting an action plan for continuous improvement.
The accreditation process took two-and-a-half years of concentrated work which involved data collection, analysis, and writing. It included three visits to the AUD campus by IACBE site visit teams and a thorough review of the self-study by the IACBE Board of Commissioners, before approval of full accreditation was granted.
