No UAE mad cow risk

The Director of the Department of Blood Transfusion and Research has denied that patients in the UAE are at risk of contracting the human form of mad cow disease from contaminated blood, reported Gulf News. Dr Ameen bin Hussain Al Amiri said a report in the UK's Guardian newspaper, which claimed the UAE was one of 14 countries that had purchased contaminated British blood, was inaccurate. He claimed the UAE had never imported any infected blood products.
