Slow response to blood tests

Pregnant women in the UAE have been slow to take up the chance to undergo blood tests to determine if their baby has a genetic blood disorder, reported Gulf News. The Thalassaemia Centre at Al Wasl Hospital began a pre-natal diagnosis service in January for couples who are at risk from the condition, a genetic blood disorder that causes a breakdown of haemoglobin, but so far only 18 couples have come forward for testing.
