HP builds leadership in high-growth mobility marketplace

HP today strengthened its mobile leadership, with the introduction of more than a dozen new products that will make it easier for businesses and consumers in the Middle-East to achieve the goal of always-on, always-ready mobile computing.
"The world is rapidly moving to a state where information can be accessed any time, anywhere and on any device. HP is driving this transformation across the entire mobile spectrum - from the devices to software, to support services that deliver mobile content," said Anil Gandhi, General Manager, Personal Systems Group, HP Middle East. "Today's announcement represents another step forward for the region's consumers, businesses and network service providers who desire a seamless, easy-to-use mobile computing environment."
"Our new global campaign focuses on the highly individual and personal relationship people have with their computers, unique to each user," added Ghandi. "HP truly understands how central the PC has become to most people's lives. We live in a truly digital, wireless and mobile world, and our range of products and services cover the entire spectrum unlike any other competitor."
Also being unveiled as part of the new campaign is HP Total Care. HP Total Care encompasses the complete lifecycle of services, tools and options which provide customers a differentiated and better experience with HP. The campaign will act as a framework for delivering customized service offerings to channel partners. With HP Total Care services, customers receive a full circle of personalized services for every stage of their computers' life: from choosing it, to configuring it, to protecting it, to tuning it up - all the way to recycling it.
Mobility is identified as a key strategic growth area for HP. The company is committed to developing its broad mobility offerings, ranging from consumer handheld devices and enterprise mobile solutions, to infrastructure and software used by many of the world's telecommunications networks.
HP estimates the worldwide mobile market, including notebooks, handhelds, telecommunications, enterprise services, and equipment, will grow to more than $234 billion by 2009, an increase of 42 percent over today's market size.(1)
Always-on, Always-ready Mobile Computing
HP strengthened its business notebook line with the introduction of five new business notebook platforms, including the travel-friendly HP Compaq nc2400. Starting at just 1.3 kg, this ultra-portable notebook is the company's thinnest and lightest notebook with optical drive to date. The fact that the optical drive is integrated into the platform makes it extremely convenient for users to access data from their CD/DVD. The 12" wide screen also allows for better viewing capability in an ultraportable way.
Mobile professionals can migrate to HP Wireless Broadband connectivity at their own pace with the HP Compaq nc6400. This 14-inch widescreen notebook will allow users to upgrade to wireless broadband networks such as HSDPA(3) with an integrated optional wireless module in the future. The notebook also comes with a 3-layer security offering: biometric fingerprint reader, integrated smart card reader, and TPM software chip thus making it very secure. In addition, the product offers the Privacy filter as an accessory prohibiting people around to view any confidential information on the screen.
Microsoft Vista capable, all new HP business notebooks feature HP Professional Innovations, a suite of hardware features and software solutions that include technologies such as integrated biometrics and digital accelerometers that enhance security, improve ease of use, and help ensure reliability.
In addition, HP has launched the nw9440, a mobile workstation in a 17" wide form factor. Designed for customers wanting the fastest machine for design applications, the 9440 provides features the nvidia graphics solution, thus providing excellent viewing quality, just as working with an additional TFT monitor and the WVA (wide viewing angle technology). The WVA allows for a wider viewing angle (140 degrees instead of 90 degrees from the screen center). The mobile workstation and spill-resistant keyboards improve overall productivity and give the user maximum convenience.
HP also unveiled the latest iPAQ hw6900 , a converged device with integrated wireless, bluetooth and GSM/GPRS capabilities as well as GPS functionality for ease of navigation. Another unique feature is the mobile data protection system- which prevents the hard drive from getting corrupted in case of any shock or vibration.
Building New Networks
With 30 years in telecommunications, HP is helping mobile and fixed-line providers evolve their legacy infrastructures to create new digital networks that rely on Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) technologies. HP is also leveraging its presence in the media and broadcast industries to help wireless operators transform digital content into a rich menu of mobile services for "on the go" sports, music, news, and entertainment.
