Qatar cement shortage

A serious shortage of cement has hit the construction industry in Qatar, reported The Peninsula. Cement has not been plentiful for some time, but, according to an official at the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, the situation is now critical. Local demand is 13,000 tonnes per day, but supplies are falling well short of this and it is feared work on some projects will cease, including those for the upcoming Asian Games.
