Dubai-Jordan joint exhibitions to showcase history and practices

The delegation was received by the Jordanian Prime Minister, Dr. Marouf Bakhit. Members of the DTCM delegation included Mr. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Manager Heritage Sites, Mr. Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, Manager Media Relations, and Mr. Marwan bin Beyat, Manager Events.

The touring officials held several meetings with Jordanian Tourism and Antiquities Minister, Mr. Munir Y Nassar, to explore different avenues of cooperation in the field of excavation and preservation of archaeological treasures.

The talks revolved around the exchange of information, expertise in the field of conservation of heritage events and participation at different events related to tourism and heritage in Dubai and Jordan.

The visiting delegation also discussed the possibility of hosting joint exhibitions to showcase both Dubai and Jordan's shared history and practices.

Mr. bin Sulayem also visited different heritage and archaeological sites in Jordan and met with the Director of Public Antiquities, Mr. Fawwaz Khreisha. The delegation also paid a visit to the Jordanian city of Madba and visited the archaeological and heritage sites.

Dubai's archaeological findings have a pride of place at the Dubai Museum while the good work done by the DTCM in the field of conservation of heritage sites is evident at the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House, Heritage House, Al Ahmadiah School, Heritage and Diving Village, Jumeirah Archaeological Site, Hatta Heritage Village, and Al Ahmadiah School.

The Jumeirah Archaeological site is of the most important and largest Islamic sites yet discovered around the Gulf, it echoes great Abbasid architecture and ornamental decorations. The Heritage and Diving Villages are important heritage sites where Dubai's rich and glorious past have been painstakingly restored.

The Sheikh Saeed's House overlooking the mouth of the Creek at the Shindagha is a listed national document that showcases the history and development of Dubai dating back to 1896. The Al Ahmadiah School which traces the beginning of formal education in Dubai are among the other important heritage sites whose preservation work adds credit to the DTCM.
