Etisalat gets Afghanistan GSM licence

Etisalat has paid $40.1m to operate a GSM network in Afghanistan for 15 years. It expects to start operations in early 2007. While GSM penetration in the strife-torn country is low, Etisalat is confident of the market's potential for growth.
