DTCM hosts delegation from German parliament

A high-profile German delegation consisting of members of the German Federal Parliament recently visited the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Head Office.

The touring German delegation was received by DTCM Manager Missions, Mr. Hamad bin Mejren who discussed the possibility of further strengthening Dubai's robust tourism ties with Germany.

The visiting delegation included Member and Vice President of German Bundestag (federal parliament) Mrs. Susanne Kastner, Member of Bundestag and Chairman of the German Arab Parliamentarian Group in Bundestag and Mrs. Karin Evers-Meyer, Member of Bundestag. They were accompanied by the German Consul General in Dubai Mr. Walter Leuchs.

Mr. Hamad bin Mejren also briefed them about Dubai's rapid growth in infrastructure and tourism and the new projects that are coming up, that are expected to soon change Dubai's skyline. He also presented special mementoes to members of the German delegation.

The visit comes as a boost for DTCM's participation at the forthcoming IMEX 2006 in Germany from May 30-June 1

This is the fourth year of participation for the DTCM at IMEX 2006. In 2005, a record 3,000 visitors attended the event from 140 countries worldwide setting a global benchmark for international meetings, incentives travel and events industry exhibition.

Germany is one of the key source markets for Dubai with the total number of German hotel guests to Dubai standing at 264,298, a 12 per cent increase from the previous year.
