Marina installation uses technology not seen before in the Middle East

Septech will install a service marina at Al Qarsana Island in Abu Dhabi, incorporating technology unique to the Middle East region.
Unlike traditionally fixed wave breaking structures the Septech wave attenuator, designed to sustain a 50-year storm in the Middle East, is a floating, integrated system, tailored to withstand wave action unique to the site, in a cost effective and superior manner. The Septech wave attenuator floating pontoon design features a wing-like structure to moderate the effects of weather and wave action within the marina, making it safe to moor vessels at the site.
"Alternative methods attempting to combat wave action in the region use inferior methods compared to the wave attenuator Septech will install on Al Qarsana Island," said David Heffernan, managing director, Septech. "Our wave attenuators utilise the unique Bellingham Marine floating, integrated system, saving clients money and making the marina a safer haven for vessels," added Heffernan. Another advantage of Septech's floating wave attenuators and pontoons is their concrete finish; aesthetically appealing yet practically superior to traditional timber deck finishes that often fail to withstand the searing heat of the region's sun.
Heffernan went on to explain that Septech is able to manufacture and install the unique wave attenuators for clients in the Middle East because of its joint venture partnership in the region with Bellingham Marine Australia, a subsidiary of Bellingham Marine, the world's oldest and largest marina company.
It's this partnership and several recent Septech marina installations in Oman that enabled Septech to secure another pontoon installation for contractors to the Omani government.
The heavy duty, high freeboard loading dock provided by the Omani government for use by local fishermen, replaces an existing dock installed by a competitor and will assist the government's objective to provide better facilities to support its fishing industry. The floating, concrete pontoon requires minimal maintenance and like the wave attenuator, is locally manufactured and individually engineered for durability, in Septech's purpose-built factory in Ajman.
