Reacting to the appointment, Arif said: "I consider it a vote of confidence in my ability to steer the company forward. As CEO of Bawadi, one of the region's most ambitious projects, my mandate will be to apply my experience and expertise to drive the Bawadi project, and position it as the world's most successful hospitality and tourism facility."
Arif moves to Bawadi after a two-year association with Dubailand, a member of Tatweer. His management skills and proficiency to promote and develop Dubailand took him to the next career level when he was appointed the Business Development Senior Manager of Dubailand.
His successful track record of developing a rewarding relationship with a diverse network of international project developers facilitated in the acquisition of 80 percent foreign investments for Dubailand.
After joining Dubailand, Arif was appointed the director of Dubai Development and Investment Authority - Asia-Pacific office.
A UAE national, Arif Mubarak has an illustrious educational background. Besides studying for a Masters in Leadership Strategies from Cranfield University, UK, he has taken courses on management from the Columbia Business School and University of Michigan in the United States. Arif has also attended the Harvard Business School Leadership Development Programme, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from Regis University, Australia.
Tatweer, which will invest AED 40bn in Bawadi, will own and develop 12 hotels on the 10km thematic hotel strip, the longest in the world. The remaining AED 60bn will be invested in 19 hotels that will be operated and managed by leading global hospitality brands.
Infrastructure work will start in 2006, while the centerpiece of the development and the world's largest hotel, Asia-Asia, will be open in 2010. It will provide 6,500 rooms, combining 5,100 four star and an additional 1,400 five star rooms.
