DTCM leads impressive delegation to IMEX 2006

The success of the overseas promotional drive mounted by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) will be in evidence at IMEX 2006, scheduled to be held at the Messe Frankfurt between May 30 and June 1.

The fourth edition of the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Exhibitions (IMEX) is set for strong growth given the current optimism and buoyancy in the global MICE market.

The DTCM, participating at IMEX 2006 for the fourth time will make its presence felt in a big way with 46 co-participants from both the private and the public sectors.

The Dubai stand will measure 351 sq. mts with 36 booths shared by the co-participants.

The worldwide exhibition is expected to attract over 7,500 national and international buyers. The number of hosted buyers will touch 3,400 from more than 57 countries.

There will be increased participation for IMEX in 2006 with more than 3,000 exhibitors coming in from more than 140 countries and a 35 per cent increase in exhibition space

Germany is one of the key source markets for Dubai with the total number of German guests in Dubai standing at 264,298 in 2005.

The year 2005 saw a 12 per cent increase in the number of hotel guests to Dubai from Germany when compared with 2004.

There are also a large number of German companies operating out of Dubai, of which 62 German companies operate out of DAFZA, 74 from Dubai and 155 from Jafza.

Thirty-five weekly flights operate between Dubai, Frankfurt and Munich.
