Petrol prices drive compact sales

Higher oil petrol prices in the UAE compared to other Gulf counties should increase demand for compact cars, Daihatsu Executive VP Katsuyuki Kamio told Gulf News. He said competition in the segment is increasing, with a number of Korean and Chinese manufacturers entering the market. Daihatsu sold 33,000 cars in the Middle East in 2005, 3.5% of its global turnover.
