Minister of Public Sector Development registers for the UAE ID Card Programme

H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Public Sector Development praised the ID Card and Population Register program during his visit to the Mushrif Registration Center being run by the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA).
"The ID Card and Population Register program is one of the most important national projects being implemented in the country. It will help in creating an accurate database on the economic, demographic and social characteristics of the country as well as in enhancing the performance of the public sector. This will positively impact the future of the country with faster and more efficient services being offered by the public" said Al Mansouri.
"Amongst the most important characteristics of a developed and modern society is the existence of a centralized and unified database that facilitates the identification of common needs in fields such as education, health and housing" he added.
Al Mansouri said that implementing this project will enhance the reputation of the UAE, in addition to providing the administration with accurate information that will assist in decision making.
H.E. Dr. Ali Ahmad Bin Abood, Under Secretary of the Ministry of the Public Sector Development noted that relationships between the different ministries and governmental bodies will be reinforced as the ID Card project has the ability to provide accurate statistics that will help in planning for development.
The second phase of the ID Card and Population Register project was launched recently. This phase will see the registration of the workforce of 16 ministries and governmental institutions with less than 500 employees, as well as of their families. The registration will be open to all citizens and expatriates early next year and the registration process is expected to be completed in three years.
Mohammad Massaood Al Mazroui, Manager of the Al Mushrif Registration Center in Abu Dhabi expressed appreciation for the initiative of senior officials in the UAE who have participated actively in the ID card project. He remarked that the ID Card will replace different cards such as the labor card, the driving license as well as ATM cards, which will in turn assist in providing better services to the public.
