DTCM initiative to tap global MICE market

Driven by the current buoyancy in the global MICE market, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has recorded strong year-on-year growth in its participation at the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events (IMEX).
This is the fourth year of participation for the DTCM at IMEX 2006. Dubai stand is measuring 351 sq. mts with 36 booths.
The DTCM-managed Dubai Convention Bureau Director Mr. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi said: "There has been an increasing interest in Dubai's MICE industry. This is an important exhibition as the German market is very important source market for us. There has been a significant year-on-year increase in the number of visitors from Germany. We are very eager to tap this market to its full potential. We are positive that this will further boost the number of visitors from this market."
IMEX-2006 is unique in attracting major international gathering of hosted buyers together with thousands of decision makers from the influential German market.
Mr. Ghassan Aridi, Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Tours, and one of the co-participants at the DTCM stand at IMEX said: "Dubai has incorporated some of the best MICE facilities in the world and comes second only to Miami. Alpha Tours has been participating at IMEX 2006 from the very beginning, since 20 per cent of our business interest is generated from the MICE industry."
Ms. Ovsanna Emyan, PR and Marketing Manager, Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa said : "We acknowledge the tremendous support that we have been receiving from the DTCM. The global MICE industry is a very important target market for us and IMEX 2006 will help us to showcase our property at the international level and attract business from the MICE sector."
