E-Vision strikes deal for 200 movies during the Cannes Film Festival

Emirates Cable TV and Multimedia (E-Vision), the premier Cable TV provider in the UAE, concluded a deal to acquire 200 movies (2006 production) to be aired on e-View - the premium pay per view service from E-Vision.

The deals were concluded during the Cannes Film Market, which took place on the side lines of the Cannes Film Festival in France from 17 to 28 May.

More than 8,600 participants, festival organizers buyers, producers, distributors, and senior decision makers from all around the world have been booked to present the latest movies on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival. E-Vision delegation met with business leaders such as "Eagle Film USA", "Italia Film", "Gulf Film", "Phars Film" and many others at the festival to discuss opportunities of bringing the latest blockbusters to E-Vision customers in the UAE.

Kamal Nassif, Pay-per-View Manager (e-View), said:

"E-Vision continuously works on bringing the latest and the most popular movies to its customers in record time. Even though the average time to air movies on Pay TV networks is around 15 months from the Golden Screen launch, e-View brings its customers the latest blockbusters only three to six months after Cinema release."


He added: "e-View is your cinema and video store at home. The E-Vision movie channels allow our customers to order a film from a scheduled list of movies selected from our movie library at a push of a button without any operator interface. Further more, customers are able to choose between pre or post payment method thus adding more value to their convenience."

The Cannes Film Market is the world number one location to expose a movie project while still in developmental stages, where a large number of international movie buyers attend the festival in an attempt to purchase what their audiences want to see.

The Market consists of a trade show with distributors showing their products to the international buyers. Movies from all over the world competing for the attention of 1500 territorial buyers are all place in one location - the Cannes Film Market.

E-Vision was established in April 2000 as the UAE's only cable provider, and is a subsidiary of the Emirates Telecommunication's corporation.

With an initial coverage of 20,000 homes, E-Vision's services currently reach 300,000 homes across five emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Ain and Ajman, with a solid 500,000 viewers.
