  • PRESS RELEASE

Trend Micro, Inc. (TSE: 4704, NASDAQ: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, has announced a solution, the Trend Micro ServerProtect for Linux, that provides highly scalable and real-time protection for internal and external endpoints.

By stopping malware from spreading through Linux Web-servers and file-servers, ServerProtect ensures compliance with corporate antivirus and security policies. Winner of the "Best Linux Security Software" by Linux-World Magazine, it has also achieved certification from such organizations as VirusBulletin, Redhat, Novell, and IBM.

ServerProtect is a key component of the Trend Micro Enterprise Protection Strategy, a comprehensive, multi-layered solution framework that protects against known and unknown threats. Its integration with Trend Micro Control Manager offers IT administrator's easy management, as well as tools for central reporting. Additionally, ServerProtect offers the first support for Trend Micro Outbreak Prevention Services on Linux.

"This is a web-based interface that simultaneously supports multiple remote installations, as well as a central update and configuration that accelerates the rollout process on a broad range of Linux distributions,"

says Justin Doo, managing director, Trend Micro Middle East and North Africa. "It also provides real-time, on-demand, and scheduled scanning using the latest multi-threaded scanning engine for high performance and kernel-level scanning to help minimise performance degradation. The solution also supports multiple scheduled updates per server or for all servers."

The ServerProtect solution combines rule-based and pattern-recognition technologies for efficient virus detection. Patented Trend Micro technologies provide additional protection by removing macro and script viruses. The International Computer Security Association (ICSA) and Virus Bulletin (VB) have certified the ServerProtect scan engine, ensuring reliability.

The ServerProtect displays the antivirus history of servers in a central log file, which can also be exported to other applications for further analysis. ServerProtect notifies predefined recipients of virus outbreak and programme events, and administrators can send notifications via pager and Internet email.
