  • PRESS RELEASE

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has been awarded the Carrier Ethernet Certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum ("MEF") for delivering outstanding data communication and optical network products.

As telecom operators move towards delivering multiple carrier services, the industry has begun to evolve from utilising Metro Ethernet to Carrier Ethernet. MEF provides a quality standard framework of Carrier Ethernet services by clearly defining five core aspects, including protection, scalability, hard QoS, management and TDM support. These standards that MEF incorporates are so specific that it covers details related to user connections and many other links, hence ensuring Carrier Ethernet services for telecommunications operators. Huawei products include Quidway NE80E/NE40E series router, Quidway CX200/CX300 series carrier switch, Quidway S8500 series routing switch and Quidway S6500 series routing switch; OptiX OSN 9500/7500/3500/2500/1500 series NG-SDH, OptiX Metro 6100/6040 series Metro WDM and OptiX Metro 1000/500 series CPE.

"As a result of its in-depth experience in engineering, excellent services and superior R&D capabilities in data communication products, Huawei is currently leading the market place in Carrier Ethernet solutions globally, "

said Wang Jiading, vice president, Huawei Technologies MENA region.

"As early as 2000, Huawei initiated an "Operable, Manageable and Profitable" concept for its customers, with respect to telecommunications networks, and applied that concept to commercial applications."

To date, Huawei has completed construction of Carrier Ethernets for several telecommunications operators around the world, including True in Thailand, JAZZTEL in Spain, Telefonica in Latin America and Fibernet in UK, among others. The reliability, scalability and interoperability of Huawei's networks and solutions help its customers take the lead in exploring multi-service markets and delivering excellent services to its consumers.

This certification from MEF demonstrates once again, that Huawei's data communication and optical network products meet the challenging demands of operators in the construction and development of Carrier Ethernet networks. The outstanding performance of Huawei's data communication and optical network products in global commercial applications indicate Huawei's expertise, knowledge and ability to meet the needs of telecommunications operators during Metro Ethernet development, as well as its broad end-to-end carrier network solutions for All-IP network transformation.
